Microsoft, the world’s largest software manufacturer, is reportedly engaged in talks with ByteDance, TikTok ‘s Chinese owners, about a potential acquisition of its US business.
Microsoft’s bid appears to be an escalation of recent attacks by President Trump on TikTok and other Chinese tech companies, Bloomberg stated.
President Trump had raised security concerns about the entrance of TikTok into the world’s largest economy in June.
A TikTok acquisition could make the software maker a major enterprise software provider, more focused on consumer technology, which Microsoft has outgrown in business segments such as e-book markets, phone hardware, and fitness hardware in the past few years.
Remember that TikTok has been named the fastest growing social media platform in the world.
